My Method

Medium

In college, I learned how to be an oil painter. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction to some of the materials used with oil painting. I temporarily moved to digital painting as a result and had lots of fun creating photo-manipulation artwork. However, after a while, my heart grew restless, and I realized how much I missed touching the paint and getting my hands dirty. I quickly discovered acrylic, water-based paint. Acrylic painting does not involve the toxic materials that create the dangerous fumes of oil painting. My journey with acrylic paints has set my heart free! I hope you enjoy the results :)

Influences

I love the old time painters—Vincent Van Gogh, being my favorite. I love the colors and movement in his artwork. His paintings reveal things and emotions that are not visible to the naked eye. I hope my art does the same.

Technique

Painting is like sitting in a rocking chair for me. There is a constant movement of back and forth, back and forth. It’s like a dance. I start with the underpainting, block in the darkest values, and go from there. Painting has taught me how to see. I never knew I was missing out on so many details, until I started to “see” with painting.
