Storage Options for Small Art Studio Spaces

Happy New Year! During the cold months of winter, I enjoy reevaluating my indoor spaces to see what needs adjusting. I’ve learned with proper planning and research, you don’t need to have a big space in order to have a successful art studio space. Here are a few tips and tricks I have learned over the years.

I love these three shelf carts! The great thing is you can find ones that will fit underneath your art table or desk, which saves a lot of space. All the paint and supplies that I would normally have on my desk, can now fit on a shelf under my art table. Additionally, since the shelves are under the table, they are not taking up any extra space in the room. Another thing I love about these is—they have wheels! You can roll them out from other the table and roll them back as you need to. They come in different widths and heights so you can decide which size would best suit your space.

Skinny stackable storage shelves are another fantastic way to save space. What I love about these is they do not take up a lot of floor space, but they still allow for a lot of room for art supply storage. Some of the wide plastic shelves can be very bulky and it’s easy to lose your supplies in the big drawers. These smaller drawers help keep things organized while also saving space. You can even label each drawer to help you quickly find what you need.

Don’t have room for an easel? No worries! You can get a tabletop easel and save yourself a lot of space. I love these because even if you do have an easel, when you need to work on two canvases at the same time, you can use a tabletop easel instead of finding the space for two easels on the floor. Plus, tabletop easels are a lot more affordable than professional easels. Therefore, these can save you space and money!

I hope you have found this information helpful for your own art space!

Christmas Pondering

A Festival to Remember, Give Thanks, and Celebrate

Psalms 81:3
Blow the ram’s horn at the new moon, and again at the full moon to call a festival!

Let me share some things I have been pondering in my heart this Christmas. In the Old Testament, God established festivals for His people so they would not forget what their ancestors had been through and what God had done on their behalf. Humans tend to be forgetful (I know I am). I like to think of Christmas as a kind of festival where we remember Christ’s birth. The humility of God astounds me at Christmas! God the Son is on His throne and willingly gives it up and becomes a vulnerable human babe who would one day die a horrible death and offer salvation to the world. It’s a lot to absorb and take in, but it always leads me to worship. No one will ever be more humble than Jesus!

When I think about Psalms 81:3 and seasons like Christmas, when we remember, I am reminded that God might be asking me to set up festivals/seasons of remembrance in my own life. God has indeed done many things for me and setting up unique festivals in my own life might be a good way for me to remember those things and give God thanks. So I leave you with this: what festival is God calling you to start in your own life or in the life of your family?

Merry Christmas!
Stacy
